Saville's papers reflect his professional interest in Mesoamerican and South American archaeology and consist of research notes, manuscript, drawings, photographs, plans and maps including those of Oaxaca, his field notes, correspondence, postcards, programs, and datebooks. In addition, any of his manuscripts concerning European contact with Indians of Mesoamerica. Other papers encompass expense accounts for expeditions, itineraries, collection lists, news clippings, and reprints of his publications. Some manuscripts of other researchers included in his papers. Glass negatives and lantern slides depict archaeological ruins, excavation sites, and artifacts. Most photographs are identified.
